Dental Implants in Spring Branch, TX

At Echeverri Dental Center, we offer an effective solution for replacing your missing teeth. Dental implants are one of the best ways to restore missing teeth because they look, act, and feel like real teeth.

How Missing Teeth Affect Your Life

Missing teeth can lead to a host of problems. They can make you feel self-conscious about your appearance. You may hide your smile in pictures, when you laugh, or even while speaking. All these issues affect not just your confidence but also your quality of life.

Dental Implants—A Solution for Missing Teeth

Dental implants consist of an artificial tooth root and a porcelain crown that mimics the appearance of natural teeth. The artificial tooth root is made of a titanium post and will give your jaw added support, just like a real tooth root.

An abutment connector links the titanium alloy post and the porcelain crown that we customize for your smile. A trusted dental lab fabricates your crown using the highest quality materials and customizes it to blend in seamlessly with your smile. The crown fills the gap in your smile and looks like a natural tooth.

Dental Implant Benefits

Missing teeth are unhealthy because the gap in your smile leads to issues like weakened jaw support. Teeth drift and tilt into the missing tooth space causing alignment issues that, in turn, lead to bite problems and issues with your TMJ (temporomandibular joint). Replacing missing teeth with dental implants prevents these issues and offers other benefits too, including:

Boost Your Confidence
With dental implants filling in the gaps, you can smile confidently, eat and chew comfortably, and speak clearly again.
Preserves Jawbone Health
When you lose a tooth, the bone that supports it starts to break down. Replacing a tooth with a dental implant allows jawbone growth to continue normally to keep the jaw strong and healthy.
Lasts a Lifetime With Proper Care
A dental implant is meant to be a permanent tooth replacement. Brush twice daily, floss once, and keep up with routine teeth cleanings, and your dental implant can last a lifetime.
Preserves Healthy Teeth Structure
A dental implant is a standalone tooth replacement, meaning it doesn’t require alteration of neighboring teeth for support.
Creates a More Youthful Appearance
Missing teeth create a sunken facial appearance. Dental implants provide fill-out features to create a fuller, more youthful appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting a dental implant requires multiple appointments that occur over several months. These include appointments for planning, placing your implant, placing the abutment, and placing the implant crown on your tooth. There may be an additional appointment if you are considering bone grafting.

Dental Implant Planning

The first step is a thorough examination with Dr. Juan Echeverri, who will place your implant. At this appointment, he evaluates your oral health and reviews your dental and medical history. He also takes x-rays and 3-D cone beam scans to determine if there’s enough bone mass to place the implant and if any other steps are needed, such as tooth extraction or bone grafting.

Dental Implant Placement in Spring Branch

Dr. Juan places your dental implant at our Spring Branch dental office, near Houston, under local anesthesia to ensure a pain-free procedure. We also offer several levels of sedation dentistry to ensure your comfort and relaxation.

Implant Healing and Abutment Placement

After placement, you can expect 3–6 months of healing to ensure your implant integrates with your jawbone. During this period, we monitor your progress to ensure the implant is healing properly. When the implant is fully integrated, you return for a second procedure, where Dr. Juan places the abutment on the implant post.

Final Dental Implant Appointment

Abutment healing takes about three weeks, after which you’ll return to our office so we can place the final dental crown on your implant.

Do you have more questions about dental implants or want to schedule an appointment at our Spring Branch, TX, dental office? Please call Echeverri Dental Center to get started!

Bone grafting is a process that supplements the bone that supports your teeth and increases their density. One reason our dentists at Echeverri Dental Center would recommend bone grafting is if you want a dental implant but don’t have the jawbone mass to support it.

How We Determine Jawbone Density

We measure bone levels using advanced imaging such as digital x-rays, panoramic x-rays, and 3-D cone beam CT scans. Insufficient bone prevents certain procedures from being successful, but also puts remaining teeth at risk.

If bone levels continue to decline, commonly due to tooth loss or advanced periodontal disease, surrounding teeth become unstable and loosen. Bone grafting at our Houston, TX, dental office helps prevent mobile teeth and allows patients to get implants to replace missing teeth.

How Bone Grafting Works

We obtain bone for grafting in several ways, including using your bone, bone from a donor, or a bone substitute. Bone from these resources is a safe solution, similar to receiving a blood transfusion.

After our dentist expertly places the grafting material, it supplements the bone to increase its mass. It can take 3–6 months for the graft to heal, after which we can plan successful implant placement.

Do You Need Bone Grafting in Spring Branch?

If you have been told you don’t have enough bone in your jaw to receive a dental implant, bone grafting might be the solution. Please call Echeverri Dental Center in Houston, TX, so we can see if you’re a candidate for bone grafting and how the process works.

Cephalometric (Ceph) X-Ray

A cephalometric or ceph x-ray is a unique diagnostic tool your dentist uses to capture an image of the side of your face. We take ceph x-rays outside the mouth (extraoral), making them more comfortable than a routine digital x-ray.

Since ceph x-rays show your dentist your entire oral structure in one image, they are commonly used when planning implant placement and orthodontic treatment. Ceph x-rays also show tooth fractures, jawbone injuries, and bite problems.

3-D Cone Beam Imaging (CBCT)

3-D cone beam imaging provides more comprehensive x-rays in a fraction of the time traditional x-rays take. It is innovative because it can capture x-rays from multiple angles of your face. These angles and scans combine to create a 3-D x-ray of your entire face.

Our 3-D imaging allows us to give precise diagnoses, administer more accurate treatment, and reduce your appointment time. It is easy to use, too! All you have to do is stand underneath the cone beam. Then the camera, located on the arm of the cone beam, will rotate 360 degrees around your head, capturing 3-D images of your face. Then, you’re all set! This process typically takes less than a minute!
