Dental implants are very popular for replacing missing teeth. They look and feel just like natural teeth, and do not require any special care beyond regular brushing and flossing. But before you start the implant process, you should talk with our dentist, Dr. Juan Echeverri about your medical history and your lifestyle choices to make certain you are a good implant candidate.

Your implants need healthy gums and jaws to be successful. You may need a gum bone graft in order to receive implants, or you may need another replacement option. If you are pregnant or your jaws have not stopped growing, you may need to wait for dental implants. If you have diabetes, immune system issues, hemophilia, or have had radiation to the head or neck, implants may not be for you. If you habitually grind or clench your teeth, use tobacco, or illegal drugs, or are a heavy drinker, the dentist may suggest another restoration. Finally, if you can’t commit to proper aftercare, follow-up visits, or brushing, flossing or regular dental visits, you should let the dentist know before you start the implant process.
